West Point, NY (January 27, 2006)
Griffin Incorporated announces the opening of its West Point Armored Division, where it will manufacture and assemble an armored cab for International Truck and Engine Corporation vehicles for service in Iraq and Afghanistan reconstruction programs. The initial work will fulfill a contract for armored tractor-trailer cabs; however, there is potential for additional contracts for other military and government vehicles.
"We are honored to have this opportunity to work in tandem with International Truck and Engine Corporation on these unique vehicles,” states Greg McKay, President of Griffin Incorporated. “Together, and right here in the West Point community, we will enhance the safety of contractors overseas.”
"We are extremely proud of this vehicle and our partnership with Griffin and the State of Mississippi,” adds Archie Massicotte, President of International Military and Government L.L.C. “We look forward to building the vehicle here and delivering it where it is most needed."
The facility in West Point will initially employ 175-200 workers with potential growth thereafter.
“West Point and Clay County are delighted to have Griffin Incorporated and International Truck and Engine Corporation’s presence in our community,” says West Point mayor Scott Ross. “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship that provides jobs for our people and an important service to the men and women serving our country abroad.”
